Né en 1990, le chef d’orchestre français Pierre Mosnier a vu sa carrière s’épanouir ces dernières années sur certaines des scènes lyriques les plus prestigieuses d’Europe. Particulièrement intéressé par l’opéra et le répertoire français, il a été chef assistant de Susanna Mälkki pour la production de Pelléas et Mélisande au Festival d’Aix-en-Provence en 2024. Séduite par son travail, la cheffe finlandaise l’a par la suite choisi comme chef assistant en 2025 pour la nouvelle production de Pénélope de Gabriel Fauré au Bayerische Staatsoper.
En 2026, il est réinvité par le Bayerische Staatsoper comme chef assistant sur la nouvelle production de Faust de Gounod aux côtés de Nathalie Stutzmann. Il retrouve la cheffe française dans Werther de Massenet à l’Opéra de Paris en 2027. Il travaille également en 2026 auprès d’Adrien Perruchon dans la reprise de La Fille du Régiment à l’Opéra de Tours. De 2022 à 2025, Pierre Mosnier est chef assistant à l’Orchestre National de France, où il participe notamment aux enregistrements de l’intégrale des symphonies de Georges Enesco (Deutsche Grammophon) et de l’oeuvre orchestrale complète de Maurice Ravel (Naïve). Au cours de cette période, il travaille aux côtés de grands artistes internationaux tels que Diana Damrau, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, Renaud Capuçon, Daniil Trifonov ou encore Julia Fischer.
Reconnu pour son expertise aussi bien dans le répertoire symphonique que lyrique, il est régulièrement invité à diriger des formations telles que l’Orchestre National de Mulhouse, l’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Tours, l’Orchestre Les Ondes Plurielles, l’Orchestre Colonne et, depuis 2024, l’Orchestre Lamoureux qu’il retrouve chaque année depuis. En 2025 il fait ses débuts avec l’Orchestre National d’Avignon-Provence.
En 2022, il fonde le festival Les Musicales d’été au Croisic, réunissant solistes internationaux et instrumentistes issus des plus grands orchestres français pour une semaine de concerts mêlant musique de chambre, programmes symphoniques et grandes soirées lyriques.
Proche de Georges Prêtre qui l’a soutenu dès le début de sa carrière, Pierre Mosnier a étudié à Paris avant de poursuivre sa formation auprès de chefs renommés tels que Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi, Tugan Sokhiev et Cristian Măcelaru.
Born in 1990, French conductor Pierre Mosnier has seen his career flourish in recent years on some of Europe’s most prestigious opera stages. Particularly interested in opera and the French repertoire, he served as Susanna Mälkki’s assistant conductor for Claude Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande at the 2024 Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Impressed by his work, the Finnish conductor subsequently chose him as her assistant conductor in 2025 for the new production of Gabriel Fauré’s Pénélope at the Bayerische Staatsoper.
In 2026, he was invited back by the Bayerische Staatsoper as assistant conductor for the new production of Gounod’s Faust, alongside Nathalie Stutzmann. He will reunite with the French conductor for Massenet’s Werther at the Opéra National de Paris in 2027. In 2026, he also collaborated with Adrien Perruchon on the revival of La Fille du Régiment at the Opéra de Tours.
From 2022 to 2025, Pierre Mosnier was assistant conductor of the Orchestre National de France, where he took part, among other projects, in the recordings of the complete symphonies of Georges Enesco (Deutsche Grammophon) and the complete orchestral works of Maurice Ravel (Naïve). During this period, he worked alongside leading international artists including Diana Damrau, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, Renaud Capuçon, Daniil Trifonov and Julia Fischer.
Recognized for his expertise in both the symphonic and operatic repertoires, he is regularly invited to conduct ensembles such as the Orchestre National de Mulhouse, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Tours, the Orchestre Les Ondes Plurielles, the Orchestre Colonne and, since 2024, the Orchestre Lamoureux, with which he has returned every year since. In 2025, he made his debut with the Orchestre National Avignon-Provence.
In 2022, he founded the « Les Musicales d’été » festival in Le Croisic (France), bringing together international soloists and instrumentalists from France’s leading orchestras for a week of concerts featuring chamber music, symphonic programmes and major opera evenings.
A close associate of Georges Prêtre, who supported him from the very beginning of his career, Pierre Mosnier studied in Paris before continuing his training with renowned conductors including Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi, Tugan Sokhiev and Cristian Măcelaru.
